Troubleshooting the Contractor Search

Although we perform over 3000 successful searches every day, occasionally users do have difficulty. Due to tightened browser security, you may encounter several problems when using our contractor search.

Session Cookies

If you see Error 500 -- Internal Server Error your browser has blocked our session cookie. A session cookie is different from most cookies placed on your computer in that it carries no identification other than a session id number and it is destroyed when your browser is closed or within a couple of hours when it expires.
Our server needs to set a session id in order to give back information to the browser requesting it. We use no cookies other than a session cookie.

To ascertain which browser you are using, click on Help/About

If you are using IE6:
	From the Tools Menu choose
		Internet Options
			Privacy
				Advanced
					Click Always Allow session cookies and click OK

If you are using Netscape 7:
	From the Tools Menu choose
	Cookie Manager
		Unblock cookies from this site

Javascript
If you see the notice that JavaScript must be enabled it means that your javascript is not working.
Make sure Javascript is Enabled.
	IE5 and 6
		From the Tools Menu choose
			Internet Options
				Security -- Custom Level
					Scroll down and make sure Scripting /Active Scripting is enabled.

		NS6
		From the Edit Menu choose
				Advanced --- Enable Javascript for Navigator
		NS7
				From the Edit Menu choose
						Advanced
							Scripts & Plugins --- Enable Javascript for Navigator
If this still does not work there may be several other things wrong.
First delete your temporary internet files.
If your installation of IE was created with certain Internet Explorer Administration kits some registry keys may be missing or damaged. Go to the Microsoft Knowledge base and look for Article 281679.
If you installed patch MS03-032 go to the Microsoft Knowledge base and look for Article 827667.
If you still cannot get Javascript enabled, and you are running under a firewall with a pop-up stopper, try stopping the pop-up blocker and the firewall.
