Women in Construction Workshop 2: Getting Your ROC License
Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006
Women have a career opportunity to join an industry that is experiencing unprecedented growth in Arizona and nationwide. The Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) is offering a workshop, Getting Your ROC License, that’s designed for women interested in becoming licensed contractors.
The ROC has created a three-part Women in Construction workshop series to provide resources to current and aspiring female contractors and address the unique issues facing women in construction. The ROC has partnered with the National Association of Women in Construction Greater Phoenix and Phoenix East chapters and the National Association of Women Business Owners Phoenix chapter to develop and host the free workshop series.
The second workshop in the Women in Construction series, Getting Your ROC License, is set for 10 a.m., Jan. 10, 2006, at the ROC’s main office, 800 W. Washington, in Phoenix. It will guide aspiring contractors through the ROC license application and will provide an overview of the license testing experience, important bonding information, Workers Compensation, and many other important aspects of a successful licensing process. Workshop participants also will have access to the ROC’s resources, including speakers, brochures, e-mail alerts, newsletters, a telephone hotline and website.
Through the Women in Construction workshops, the ROC will encourage women to pursue and establish careers as licensed contractors in the construction industry. Interacting with successful role models who already work in the construction industry will have a tremendous impact on women who think they may want to enter the profession.
Register for the workshop online. For more information call the ROC at (602) 542-1525 ext. 7106 or send e-mail to wendy.gutierrez@azroc.gov. The next workshop, Maintaining Your ROC License, is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19.
